The Longnecker Lab is currently based at the University of Otago's Centre for Science Communication. To learn more about research in Longnecker Lab, browse the research projects below in the categories of Citizen Science, Science Engagement and Science Communication. Our research involves engagement and support of citizen scientists, working with indigenous communities for native frog conservation, impact of science outreach and visualising the future in ways that encourage sustainable thought and behaviour.
Our current featured research was undertaken by new graduate Dr. Jean Fletcher. Jean’s research investigated the use of stories to communicate about climate change and help people visualise the future. She looked at how people described what travel might be like in 2050 and investigated how levels of concern about climate change were influenced by people’s personal optimism, technological optimism and their ability to visualise the future.
